PH15-7Mo Stainless Steel
PH15-7Mo stainless steel, also known as 15-7 PH, is high-strength stainless steel. The "15-7" in the name alludes to the steel's composition, which is 15% chromium and 7% nickel, and the "PH" denotes that the steel can be strengthened through precipitation hardening. This entails heating and cooling the material to generate fine grains within the metal framework, enhancing its strength and hardness. It is a chromium, nickel, and molybdenum-containing martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel. PH15-7Mo stainless steel has exceptional mechanical features such as high strength, hardness, and toughness, as well as good corrosion resistance, and its strength much outperforms that of austenitic stainless steel.
Precipitation-hardening stainless steel, unlike austenite work hardening, has a low nickel content and can produce unstable austenite or even martensite following heat treatment. It then undergoes aging treatment to precipitate intermetallic compounds (such as Ni3Al) that strengthen the metal. After strengthening, the tensile strength can reach 1250–1600 MPa. Furthermore, PH15-7Mo may be employed in high-temperature applications; following heat treatment, it can provide outstanding mechanical qualities at 482 °C.
